A good home-and-home

UND is pleased with its home-and-home football contract with Montana.

It's a good get for the Sioux, who will play Nov. 13, 2010, in Missoula. The Griz will play in Grand Forks on Sept. 14, 2013.

Montana is one of the top FCS schools in the country. The Griz have sold more than 19,000 season tickets for the upcoming season and all of their games are scheduled to be televised in Montana this season.

That leads to this speculation: Because of Montana's popularity, the Griz may not have to or want to play the return game in 2013. Maybe that's the way it will turn out but the Griz are playing at UC Davis this season. And that's not an easy place to play. So give them credit for going there. For now, you move ahead as if Montana will be here in 2013.

Regardless, UND's ability to land Montana in a home-and-home is a good deal for the Sioux. And it certainly can't hurt recruiting.

The 2010 season is already shaping up to be a challenging one for the Sioux, who will play at Montana, Idaho and, reportedly, Northern Illinois.

It will be interesting to see if UND develops a steady scheduling relationship with Montana and the rest of the Big Sky Conference.
