UND-UC Davis

Greetings from Davis.

We're about 10 minutes from kickoff. Temperature is 60 degrees and win is out of the NWN at 9 mph, although the breeze appears to a little stronger than what the weather channel claims.

Mitch Sutton (shoulder), Ismael Bamba (arch) and Devin Benjamin (knee) didn't practice much during the week but will go today.

Crowd should be around 10,000. Aggie Stadium is a great venue.

There are about 100 UND fans here, including UND President Robert Kelley.

 

FIRST QUARTER

UC Davis receives and picks up two first downs. Chris Carter makes one-handed catch on first play for 11 yards. UC Davis has to punt

Bamba drops third-down pass that would have given Sioux first down. Brandon Hellevang follows with 61-yard punt.

UCD punts, Mercerau's 14-yard return gives UND first down at UCD 30. On first play, Sioux botch an end-around as Bamba gets tripped up the UND player and fumbles. Sioux now have third-and-21 at 41. Sioux punt, waste good scoring opportunity.

UND's three possessions are all three-and-out. Defense is playing OK but has been on the field a lot, not a good sign as the game progresses. Offense has to find some kind of rhythm.

Sioux go for it on fourth-and-goal from inside the 1. Goska rolls right, looks like he was going to run and then flips pass to Tibesar who kept his feet inbounds just across the goal line

Teams trade punts

Glad to see the Bison fan who is totally obsessed with UND is here for the day.

Halftime: UCD 14, UND 7 Sioux have 120 yards offense, most of it coming with Goska at QB. UC Davis has 235 yards.

Goska has given UND's offense a much-needed jump-start. It will be interesting to see UCD's defensive adjustments in the second half.

Sioux go three-and-out on first possession. Goska run on first down loses 3 yards.
